Buckmore Park:
February 17th; Last round of the Winter Championship Honda Pro-Kart Endurance Series
Final Position: 3rd in Clubman Class
We managed to damage the kart by not securing it properly in the new team trailer. A crate of Red Stripe is due to brilliant team with a chassis manufacturing business in the back of their van who welded up both pedals for us. Barry Sheene tape did the rest...........
Weather was dry - slicks all day - but too cold for comfort.
Richard qualified us nicely in the middle of the grid but started from the back due to an experimental driving manoeuvre on the warming up lap.
But then he put in some really nice fast laps.
Edward in his first serious kart race did really well, ending in a speedy re-fuelling and hand-over.
James managed to get round without crashing more than once a lap and it was pure co-incidence that it was during his stint that we got penalised a lap for over-enthusiastic driving.
Tom managed to overcome a stalled engine after an off-road excursion and then set our fastest lap hitting 47.8secs before spinning and getting hit himself.
Somehow the other kart got its back bumper stuck almost irretrievably up one of our side pods - it took four of us to uncouple the two karts again.
We all crashed too much; we all knew we could do better; we all had a riot - but next time we'll concentrate on the driving.
Support services, help and encouragement were provided by Jo, Rose and Zoë, but mainly Jo and Rose.
